H5N1 2nd case found in Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia

18th case reported died in Cambodia of H5N1

Kampong Chhnang: New case reported positive on a girl in Kbal Koh village, Ampil Teuk commune, Kampong Tralach district, Kampong Chhnang province. The girl died on 30 March 2012 in a public hospital in Phnom Penh after sent for treating for two days.
Chief villager Kbal Koh said "The girl name Noy Makara 6 years old. He doesn't know when she was ill. The girl was treat in the vilage but wasn't better then sent to Phnom Penh hospital on 28 March and died on 30 March. She was burn at the hospital after died. He isn't sure whether the girl is died of avian influenza disease but Kampong Chhnang health ministry had educated the villagers about health issues and warn not to attach and eat the dead poultries and also introduced them to burn those . He added that "Her family feed 20 poultries and they became sick and died following others only one hen left but also getting sick.


Mr. Morm Malai, vice head of Kampong Chhnang health ministry and is the president of Fast Response said the girl is really died of H5N1 and declared she might infected via poultries. He added that she started ill on 22 March and cured at home till 28 March and sent to cure in Kantha Bopha in Phnom Penh and died on 30March.

After this case occur Ministry of Agriculture and office of veterinary treatment had come to educate and introduce the villagers get kill the disease in the village and the health ministry has collected the blood sample from the ill and the suspect to diagnose. This process last for two days from 31 March-1 April. Beside blood sample diagnose the ministry is still following up the case.
