Khmer Shadow Puppet Day


ស្បែកធំជាល្ខោនស្រមោលដែលសំដែងដោយតុក្កតា (ឬហៅអាយ៉ង) ធ្វើពីស្បែក មានកំពស់ប្រហែល 2 ម៉ែត្រ។ វាត្រូវបានគេចាត់ជាពិធីសក្ការៈរបស់សាសនា និងមានការសំដែងតែក្នុងពិធីធំមួយចំនួនប៉ុន្នោះ ដូចជា ចូលឆ្នាំខ្មែរ ព្រះរាជពិធីចំរើនព្រះជន្ម ឬពិធីឡើងសក័របស់វីរៈជនល្បី ដូចជា របាំព្រះរាជ្យទ្រព្យ និងល្ខោនខោលដែរ។

ដើម្បីចូលរួមអបអរការចុះបញ្ជីល្ខោនស្បែកជាបេតិកភណ្ឌ័មនុស្សជាតិថ្ងៃទី ២៥ ខែវិច្ឆិកា ឆ្នាំ ២០០៥ និងរបាំព្រះរាជ្យទ្រព្យកាលពីថ្ងៃទី ៧ ខែវិច្ឆិកា ឆ្នាំ ២០០៣ ក្រុមសិល្បករខ្មែរចំនួនពីរក្រុមរួមមាន សហគមន៍ចាប៉ីអមតៈ និងយីកេអមតៈ នឹងចូលរួមសម្តែងនៅក្នងទិវារបាំស្បែកធំ ដែលនឺង ប្រារព្ធធ្វើទៅនៅថ្ងៃអាទិត្យ ទី ០៨ ខែវិច្ឆិកា ខាងមុននេះ នៅសាកលវិទ្យាល័យភូមិន្ទភ្នំពេញ។ សំបុត្រមានតម្លៃតែ ៥០០០ រៀលប៉ុណ្ណោះ ហើយអ្នកអាចទិញបាននៅនឹងកន្លែង ទំនាក់ទំនង តាមរយៈទូរស័ព្ទលេខ ០១០ ២៤៧ ៣៤១ ឬ ០១៧ ៩៤៦ ២៤០ ហើយអ្នកក៏អាចស្លៀកពាក់សំលៀកបំពាក់ បុរាណខ្មែរផងដែរ។

The Sbek Thom is a Khmer shadow theatre featuring two-metre high, non-articulated puppets made of leather openwork. Dating from before the Angkorian period, the Sbek Thom, along with the royal ballet and mask theatre, is considered sacred. Performances, dedicated to the divinities, could only take place on specific occasions, three or four times a year, such as the Khmer new year, the King’s birthday or the veneration of famous people.

To celebrate the registration Sbek as world heritage of humanity in November 25th, 2005 and Royal Ballet dancing on November 7th, 2003, two group Khmer artists: Community of Living Chapei and Yike Amatak, are taking part in the Shadow Puppet Festival on Sunday 8 November, 1-8pm, at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. Tickets are only 5000R available at the entry gate. It also can be call for reserved the place via 010 247 341 / 017 946 240. Furthermore participant can also enjoy dressing Khmer traditional costumes!

Cambodia Village Festival 2015

Interesting Khmer village festival is happening from April 3rd to 5th this year at Prek Thleung pagoda in the urban Phnom Penh. People are gathering to play traditional game and enjoy others Khmer traditional activities. There will also Khmer traditional shows such as Lakhorn or Khol drama. 

Interesting to join the party can ride city bus that have a stop near Olympic stadium which shown below.

Cultural Art Festival Exhibition


It is a good time prior to Khmer New Year which will come this April there will have a festival art exhibition showing about the perfect Khmer culture and art. This is the third annual Cultural Festival about Khmer Cultural and there will also other interesting Art Exhibition will held at Chaktomuk Theater this March from 28th to 29th starting from 9:00 am to 20:00 pm.

This event is aimed in promoting Khmer art and culture through innovative research on ancient communities, the theme of “achievement and future” will encourage the growing movement to protect and take pride in Khmer identity by preserving its heritage.

The main event during the two day festival will be the cultural performances, at $3 a ticket, featuring rare and classic performances like “Lbok Ktor”, “Chrout Srov”, “Chapei Dorng Veng” and the famous “Lkon Khoal”– an ancient dance usually only performed for the King in ancient times. The dance is notorious for being made of up of only men. 

The “Lkon Khoal” is also known as Khol drama – a masked dance drama also featuring male performers. The plot is usually based on the Reamker or Ramayana. Styled similarly to the Royal Ballet of Cambodia, it is performed with narrators and a traditional musical ensemble. 

UnescoWorld Heritage Committee put the Royal Ballet and Lkhoan Sbek Thom, the big shadow puppet show, on the Intangible Cultural Heritage List, but Champei music, Khmer silk and Khol Drama are still in the nominating process.
