First case of AH5N1 in 2012 died, 17th case in Cambodia

Cambodian Child found infected by Avian Influenza A H5N1 Reported Died
January 18 2012

Banteay Mean Chey: A boy of 2 year old has tested present with AH5N1 after found many poultry have died according to the report from Ministry of Health on Monday.

The boy's name Hin Heang live in Phum Ropark, Khum Snuol Mean Chey, Srok Preah Net Preah. Heang is curing in Angkor Hospital for Children(AHC) in Siem Reap.

This is the first case reported infected on human in 2012 . Avian Influenza has first found infected on human in Cambodia since 2005 and killed 16 people till now.

His grandmother, Tek Reoung, age 60 years old told her grandson start feel ill since January 3 with the symptom of fever  and vomiting after which poultry in the village sick. The child was sent to AHC since January 9. 

Dr. Nov Lakena specialized pediatric in AHC said "Heang is in serious condition that cause he was sent here too late. His immunity get weaker and his got severe lung damage. Yesterday he got more in trouble cause his kidney get weaker too that lead to high risk to his life.

Mr. Keo Sopharktra chief of Banteay Mean Chey's Ministry of Health said "Recently, in that area reported there are more than 5.000 poultries died including in the child's house. He added that the child might be infected by direct contact with pultries when playing near household.

He declared the villagers in the area were tested for the present of AH5N1 and dilivered Tamilflu to be protected and some poultries were destroyed to prevent the spreading.

The boy is reported die a day later which is on Wednesday 18 January 2012 at 3:00 early morning.

This case lead Cambodia have the the total victim of Avian Influenza 17 since 2005.

The health center reported there is no other villagers tested positive with AH5N1 then.
